Nonna’s Pasta and Pizza Offer Contemporary Interpretations of Italian Flavors

Known as the daughter of famous restaurant Mama Lou’s (whose origins are rooted in BF Homes, Parañaque), Nonna’s Pasta and Pizza is owners David and Crystal Sison’s more playful and contemporary approach to Italian cuisine.

Located in Solenad 3 in Nuvali, Nonna’s, as it is simply referred to, is a warm yet vibrant restaurant, but it’s not difficult to feel at home once seated. Tables are also available outside, which is matched with a garden-like exterior. It’s a cozy and comfortable setting for feasting on the delicious menu that Nonna’s has to offer.

Nonna’s menu features a number of favorite Italian dishes reinvented. The product? Fusion experiments that have been tagged as instant hits. They’re the kind of best-sellers one wouldn’t expect but would be glad to have tried out.

Some of the experiments that have become staples on the menu and must-tries for first-timers include their Korea-inspired and kimchi-topped Seoul Pizza and the Corn Crema Fettucine, which is corn topped spinach pasta in a rich cream sauce.

At Nonna’s, everything is made from scratch using the finest and freshest ingredients, including their hand-pulled pasta. Regulars of Nonna’s will recommend the Truffle Mac and Cheese in Alfredo sauce – which is one of Mama Lou’s most famous pastas as well. But unique to Nonna’s are the creamy salmon ravioli on a rich sauce and the classic lasagna, with parmesan and mozzarella baked in meat sauce.

But Italian fare wouldn’t be complete without pizzas. Nonna’s thin-crust brick–oven pizzas are the real showstoppers. The Tutti Formagi is heaven for cheese lovers, made of mozzarella, Gouda, honey goat cheese, parmesan, and blue cheese; the All Meat, topped with salami, bacon and home-made Italian sausage plus pomodoro sauce and mozzarella cheese bursts with flavor; and the classic margherita, which when married with their honey sauce, brings out an array of flavors in every bite.

Of course, no meal would be complete without dessert. Nonna’s dessert menu includes several meal enders that would be a travesty to pass on. Their famous Creme Brulee, best paired with coffee, is their take on the custard treat topped with a subtle dose of caramelized sugar and peaches. Other desserts include the Lemon Meringue Pie and the Eton Mess, which is layers of meringue with strawberries and cream sandwiched between them.

It’s no wonder regulars have Nonna’s as a must-visit during each visit to Nuvali. After one satisfying meal, any first-timer would be convinced to be back sooner than later.
