Weekend Food Trip: Splice Resto Bar in Greenfield District

Deciding on where and what to eat can get a little tricky, especially for the working segment who only have limited choice on food. Slash the fastfood madness and treat yourself to good food once in a while. If you have been dying to try something new yet familiar to the taste buds, I propose a high-five because the search for your next favorite restaurant is over!

Luckily for people working in the Ortigas Area, a newly opened resto bar in The Portal, Greenfield District named Splice is serving excellent dishes that give value to your money. Introducing comfort food with the touch of creativity from the hands of Chef Ivory Yat, you definitely wouldn’t want to miss what’s in their menu.

We all seem to agree on one thing about chicken wings – the messier it gets, the better. With the finger-licking goodness of the Sriracha Butter Wings, I couldn’t get my dirty hands off this irresistible appetizer. The Sriracha sauce was the perfect complement to the fiery chicken wings, adding the right amount of spice and tanginess to make you keep wanting more.

Chef Ivory knows without a doubt how to entice pasta lovers like myself. After devouring the Danggit and Chicken Skin Carbonara, I instantly knew I was going to remember this place for a long long time. Instead of bacon bits to carbonara, why not put something homegrown? The distinct smell of Danggit as the plate approached the table was just the tip of the iceberg. The real deal is the creaminess of the carbonara combined with the intense flavorful taste of Danggit; and what more when drizzled with the crunchy bits of Chicken Skin? It was a party in my mouth!

You may have heard about doughnut burgers (lightly glazed donuts in place of usual burger buns), but I bet you haven’t heard about Chef Ivory’s interpretation to this food innovation. With one bite of The Simpsons-inspired Homer’s D’ohnut Burger, I experienced the sweetness of the glazed donuts, juiciness of the homemade beef patty, richness of American cheese and smokiness of the bacon. The balance and harmony of these flavors made comfort food even more comforting.

Miracles do happen in the kitchen, and their 8-hour Pork Belly Confit is undeniably one of them. True to its name, the pork belly was so tender that it melts in your mouth. Served with Chilli Balsamic Vinaigrette and dirty rice, the 8-hour Pork Belly Confit is definitely something worth trying.

Meringue con Quezo is a lovely way to end this wonderful dining experience. Unlike other meringues that are too sweet, Chef Ivory’s freshly baked meringue is perfectly sugared, just enough to tickle your sweet tooth. With the creamy cheesecake filling, thick strawberry jam and graham bits on the side, this dessert easily harmonizes with your palate.
