10 TV Series You Could Binge-Watch To Help You with Adulting

As a kid, most of us have daydreamed about doing whatever we want and whenever we please. We despise being confined inside the house being grounded or having curfew probably because we think it limits our opportunity to explore the world and have a good time with our friends. We think our parents are being overly dramatic when they worry about us being too young to do things on our own. And now that we’ve grown up and tasted our long-awaited freedom, responsibilities start barging in and suddenly everything becomes too real too fast. We can now feel each pay slipping through our fingers, digits in our bank account slowly fading into a solid O(mg).

Since we haven’t figured out how to go back in time yet and have siesta after lunch or how to freeze time, let’s just escape #adulting for a while and watch TV while sipping on your wine, whiskey, or beer after a long day of browsing through memes and managing not to get caught by your boss.

Here is a list of TV shows you could watch to help you see the silver lining of being an adult:

  1. Friends

Maybe you’ve seen this when you were younger and you ask yourself, “What are they laughing at? I don’t get it.” And then you grow up and suddenly all the punch lines make sense. Their need to have coffee all the time means more to you now that you know why you need it in your life. You will also finally understand why Joey and Chandler keep buying and changing their furniture.

  1. How I Met Your Mother

This show didn’t really revolve around how Ted met his children’s mother but more on how he got there. It served as an intro to a preview of a slightly exaggerated adult life with all the realistic decisions one must have to make once you decide to become independent such as keeping real friends, looking for a partner, choosing to live with them, and buying a property with them.

  1. Happy Endings

The first episode shows the template of a happy ending and how it can be turned around in a blink of an eye. Dave’s life can be relatable for most of us who haven’t decided what we want to do in life yet but nothing is really ever too late. Penny’s setup might be familiar especially to millenials who already have their own home and have soaring careers but love seems to take the long road.

  1. New Girl

Looking for a new place to stay can be stressful particularly when you’re on a budget. And like what most young adults do, we find roommates we can share the bills with. Sharing a condo saves you money and can potentially earn you friends for life.

  1. Workaholics

A series that tells what it’s like living with your co-worker and working with your roommate. Work hard from 9 to 5 and party hard from 5 to 9. Work couldn’t bore you to death when you have your friends to pull office pranks on. Just make sure to keep it low key so your non-roommate co-workers won’t report you to the HR Department.

  1. Community

Still haven’t figured out what to do with your life? Maybe you can relate to Community’s little study group as you join them in their adventures that varies from film adaptations to cartoon realities to leveled up children’s games. If growing up bores you, maybe it’s time to consider broadening your imagination.

  1. Modern Family

The standards we keep on the quality of our lives gradually changes even in our family lives as generations pass. Modern family shows an eclectic kin set up proving that diversity does not mean anything bad, it only makes living more interesting.

  1. 2 Broke Girls

Short on cash and drowning in debts? Don’t worry, Caroline and Max can show you how to wing it with style. Success is not limited to the money you make and can be achieved by taking the necessary steps on the road to your goals. You might be living in a small studio right now but with the right kind of attitude and a splash of hard work, your dream home is just a dream away.

  1. Fresh Off The Boat

Eddie Huang has just moved in with his family in a new city and feels the need to blend in. You can find inspiration in how he creates his own style no matter how hilarious he may seem, and make your own whenever you feel lost and out of place.

  1. The Big Bang Theory

You will always have neighbors wherever you choose to live, unless you want to live on top of a mountain or in a deserted island. Since you have to work in the city, you also have to keep up with your neighbors. But what if you live next door to Sheldon Cooper who is undeniably a genius in his field but is also obliviously annoying even though he believes that he fully understands the concept of socializing? Watch these nerds talk about science and still look silly and awkward despite all they know.

Growing up means dealing with a lot of new things in life with many different ways to handle them. Who says adulting should be difficult and stressful? You just have to be resourceful and realistic on how you spend your day and you’re good to go.
