Quiet Coffee Shops in San Lorenzo, Makati for Working

There are people who can tune in more to their work when working away from the too-familiar comforts of home. So, they look for a coffee shop. There are studies that point to the benefits of working from a coffee shop. The change in scenery, the atmosphere of being around others, and the ready access to caffeine are some factors that help increase productivity. All around Makati – and San Lorenzo, in particular – there are coffee shops around the neighborhood that cater to those who are looking for a place to work comfortably.

Nic’s

Nic’s has been around since 2001 as a commissary that offered food and dessert items to coffee shops and restaurants. But in 2014, Nic’s opened its first full-fledged restaurant in UP Town Center. In November 2018, they opened their second branch at the ground floor of Park Terraces along West Street, Makati City. Founded by the pair of Maggie and Rina Go, Nic’s menu consists of a variety of starters, pasta, pizza, rice bowls, and sandwiches. But what Nic’s has always been known for are their desserts and coffee, which is best enjoyed while working surrounded by New York themed interiors.

UCC Mentoré Coffee + Bar

UCC is one of Japan’s oldest coffee shops, and the brand has solidified its presence in various cities of Metro Manila. The brand is best recognized for putting a premium on the beans it uses and the manner that their coffee is prepared. The Mentoré brand is about combining UCC concepts into one store. Located across Park Terraces, their branch in Makati has been around for years, serving delicious meals and drinks to residents of the area, those staying in nearby hotels, and the hundreds of mall goers that come to the area daily. Because of its big space and secluded location, getting work done isn’t going to be a problem in this coffee shop.

Habitual Coffee

It was because of the passion of three college friends that Habitual Coffee was born. The renowned coffee shop started out as a pop-up in Ortigas, but has since expanded to different areas. Its San Lorenzo branch, located along 2135 Chino Roces Avenue, is quietly tucked inside a warehouse, and is one of the neighborhoods better-kept secrets. At Habitual Coffee, one can expect excellent cups of coffee paired with sandwiches or pastries. They don’t have much on their food menu and instead spotlight their coffee. With comfortable couches and chairs available, it’s the ideal ambiance for working alongside other driven people.

There’s a fast-paced energy around the neighborhood at any time of day. For those who live in San Lorenzo, these three cafés provide them the option to take things slow, get work done, and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee while at it.
