Perfect Pairings: 8 Superb Home Design Ideas for Couples

PERFECT PAIRINGS

Perfect Pairings is the second set of studio units that compliments the behavior between duos. Inspired by pairs, each of the 24-square meter condominiums reflects the passion and activities of the retirees, power couple, newlyweds, travel team, brothers in arms, spinster sisters, gay best friends, and college buddies.

  1. The Retirees

Island Tropical

Earth tones and shades of green fill this quaint studio unit with peaceful beach vibes as woven furniture pieces and wooden wall accents set the mood for a cozy island life in a sunny paradise.

What makes this home design perfect for aging couples is the relaxing ambiance of the tropical island, where the retirees can enjoy a slower paced lifestyle as they age in place.

The atmosphere becomes more inviting as the ceiling light fixtures brighten up the whole room, illuminating the soft warmth of a natural daylight. To cap it all off, graduating students Bea Tacalan, Monique Lapuz, Rennea Pili, Lady Myla Ramos and Camille Bernal added little details such as plants and rattan accessories to lift up the beach vibe.

  1. The Power Couple

Modern Chinese

For young couples who are at the same time business partners, this elegant studio unit inspired by the Modern Chinese design is the perfect place for unwinding after a long day of work. The Oriental influence on the interior of this condominium unit evokes feelings of calmness and tranquility.

Emphasizing the fusion of tradition and modernity in Chinese culture, graduating students Ren Malaki, Norman Datu, Yasmine Atuyeh and Richard Abino made use of intricate elements and patterns to give twist to the neutral monochromatic colors of walls and cabinets.

Adding character to this Chinese-inspired design is the painted wall-to-ceiling enclosure based on the blues and whites of a China porcelain, that marks the focal point of the bedroom.

  1. The Newly Weds

Asian Contemporary

From vibrant chair cushions to the breezy ropes and woven carpets, this studio unit is all about the rustic charm of Phuket beaches and the bustling city of Bangkok. All thanks to the smart play of colors and use of different textures, the overall mood gives a homey, whimsical feeling.

Instead of putting walls, graduating students Hazel Tan, Sheryl Tan, Toxi Ampatua, Janille Reboledo and Janine Caballeros used cream-colored ropes and maximized the use of light to give an illusion of wider space.

Despite having limited space, this home design has enough room to fit in a fully equipped kitchen where the newly wed couple can move around comfortably as they prepare meals.

  1. The Travel Team

Mediterranean

Upon entering this Greek Mediterranean-inspired condominium unit, the guests are welcomed by the soothing colors of blue and white, and the gentle curves of the decorative arches that soften the atmosphere. The use of white walls and floor brightens up the tiny room, giving the illusion of a wider, deeper space.

In a compact room like a 24 square meter condominium unit, the storage option plays a critical role as to avoid the unwanted visual clutter. Graduating students Raziel Bungay, Karl Dioso, Kristine Mangaoil, Sarrah Paco, Celine Sarona maximized the area by placing customized furniture pieces such as tables and bed frames to serve as additional storage space for the travelers.

To create an impression of a more expansive space, it is smart to put huge windows that allow natural light to fill in the room. Also, it provides a striking view of the great outdoors that makes the room feel even bigger.

  1. Brothers in Arms

Modern Contemporary

Inspired by two brothers who spent time serving in the military, the clean, sleek look of the modern era combined with the contemporary design defines the refinement and sophistication of a perfect gentleman.

The warm and welcoming tones of the room are brought by the natural materials such as wood, leather, teak and linen. The combination of these natural materials echos an idea of ease and coziness.

Instead of putting walls for the kitchen, graduating students Justinne Melizza, Sushmita Lai, Eileen Pepino and Kathleen Dimapilis made use of wood as a room divider.

  1. The Spinster Sisters

English Country

This tasteful home inspired by English Country design reflects the femininity and comfort of an elegant woman who has high regards for tradition despite modernity.

The harmony between the white ceiling and the wood floor finish makes the atmosphere even more charming and romantic.

Graduating students Jerard Consorte, Nachelle Nocom, Chen Regidor, Jasmine Bardoles and Danica Pua used the soft contrast of the blue florals against the white wall to spark the mood of warmth and familiarity across the area. The mix of classic floral patterns and wood tones provides a calming ambiance for this English Country-inspired condominium unit.

  1. The Gay Best Friends

Italian Renaissance

To take us back to the Renaissance period, graduating students Aira Barba, Maria Isabela Blanco, Beatrice Villaflor and Hannah Lacanilao made use of columns and arches, draperies and paintings that reflect the unit owner’s love for arts.

The red, gold, cream and brown color scheme instantly sets the mood for intimacy and romance.

Details such as the gold borders that outline the ceiling and columns, the walls that are rich in style and patterns, and the furniture pieces that contains many inlays of ivory, gold, stone, marble make the room look very sumptuous and grand.

  1. The College Buddies

Deconstructivism

Functionality and style come together as graduating students Kenan Cardenio, Leona Gail La Madrid, Janine Louise Rubi, Mean Suzette Vasquez and Aira Katrice Uy showed their creative and playful side through this College Dorm-inspired home design.

The witty placement of angles and edges gives the room more depth and character while light and cool colors such as blue and white create an illusion of a wider room. Space saving pieces include the quirky ladder leading to the beds, the customized center table and the chairs that can also serve as storage for books and papers.

Perfect for college students, this home design has managed to squeeze in an area for studying and working despite the small space.

Choosing a theme for your unit is probably the hardest but most exciting part of styling a condo. Make sure that the design will not only make your unit look presentable and attractive but will also fit your personality. No matter what your preferred design is, your condo unit should be a place that will make you feel like home and comfortable to live in.
